TL;DR
Most hotels build next year's budget from August to October, and owners review it into early December, so get into the budget by October.
Peak season is the worst time to change systems; plan go-lives for each region's low season.
There is no November Hospitality Show in 2027, as the next edition moves to March 2028 in Las Vegas.
31 hotel tech events already have confirmed 2027 dates, from ALIS in January to the Phocuswright Conference in November.
The free PDF adds monthly plays, a planning worksheet and an .ics file with every confirmed date.
Hotels do not buy software at random. They build next year's budget in a fixed window, they stop answering email when the hotel is full, and the people you want to meet gather at a handful of events. If your sales and marketing plan ignores that rhythm, you send your best campaign in the week your buyer is running a sold-out house.

The hotel year in five facts
Budget season runs August to October. Most operators start in August and the numbers are set by the end of October; owners review into early December. (source)
Hotels change systems in their low season. WebRezPro says the low season is usually the best time for a PMS change, and Stayntouch cites advice to cut over in a quiet week away from peak. (source)
IT is a small, mostly committed budget. Hospitality Technology's 2024 Lodging Technology Study: IT took more than 4.2% of revenue in 2023, and 63% of it maintains existing systems. (source)
Most big chains run on the calendar year. Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, Accor, Wyndham and Choice all end their fiscal year on 31 December. IHCL (Taj) ends on 31 March. (source)
No November US show in 2027. The Hospitality Show moves to 27 to 29 March 2028 in Las Vegas. (source)
The first fact matters most. Richard Warnick of CHMWarnick writes that most operators start the budget in August, the numbers are "in the oven" by the end of September and "baked" by the end of October, with owners and asset managers reviewing from late August to early December. In Asia Pacific, CBRE describes internal review in October and submission to owners in November. A product that is not in that budget usually waits a year, which is one reason hotel tech sales cycles stretch across seasons.
2027 month by month
Each row gives the month's theme, what hotels are doing and the play we recommend. The plays are advice; the facts are linked to their sources in the full calendar.
Month | Theme | What hotels are doing | Your play |
|---|---|---|---|
January | Budgets are fresh and hotels are quiet | Most chains start a new fiscal year on 1 January: Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, Accor, Wyndham and Choice all close their year on 31 December. | Chase deals that were approved in last autumn's budgets before the money is reallocated. |
February | The best month for outbound | Lunar New Year falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, with statutory Spring Festival days from 5 to 8 February in mainland China. | Run your biggest outbound sequence of the first half now, outside Lunar New Year and Ramadan markets. |
March | Spring show season and the last quiet weeks in the north | Easter runs from Good Friday 26 March to Easter Monday 29 March 2027. Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9 to 11 March in the UAE (tentative). | Use ITB Berlin and the Madrid, Amsterdam and Atlanta shows for meetings, not just booth traffic. |
April | Last window before summer | Japan's Golden Week begins with Showa Day on Thursday 29 April 2027. | Close northern-hemisphere deals that need a pre-summer go-live this month, or plan for an autumn start. |
May | The busiest event month | China's Labour Day statutory days are 1 and 2 May 2027 (full holiday span TBC), and Japan's Golden Week continues on 3 to 5 May. | If you sell to US franchise owners, AAHOACON is the one to plan around. |
June | HITEC month | US occupancy climbs into summer: CoStar reported 69.6% in June 2026. | Book HITEC meetings at least six weeks out; hotel IT and revenue leaders are in one building for four days. |
July | Peak season: hotels are busy | July and August held 31.1% of all EU tourist accommodation nights in 2025. US occupancy was 68.2% in July 2025. | Do not schedule go-lives or heavy training at resort and leisure properties. |
August | Budget season starts | Most operators start next year's budget in August. Lighthouse says budget season begins in August for most hotels and runs about three months. | Get your line into next year's budget now. Send GMs and revenue leaders the business case before the numbers are set. |
September | Evaluation month | By the end of September, Warnick writes, the budget numbers are "in the oven". Duetto says budget season commonly runs September to November. | Run demos and evaluations for seasonal and resort hotels now that peak is over. |
October | Budgets get baked | Budgets are "baked" by the end of October. In Asia Pacific, CBRE says operators review budgets internally in October before submitting them to owners in November. | Last call to get into next year's budget. After this, you are asking the owner to approve an exception. |
November | Owners sign off | Owners and asset managers review budgets from late August to early December. One municipal hotel management agreement requires budgets to the owner by 1 November. | Close deals that made it into the budget and book January go-lives before the holidays fill the calendar. |
December | Plan, renew and rest | Budget review with owners and asset managers can run into early December. | Do not start cold outbound; send renewal reviews and QBRs to existing customers instead. |

Peak and low seasons by region
Peak season is when hotels are least able to change systems, and the low season is when they can. WebRezPro says the low season is usually the best time for a PMS change. Use this to time go-lives and demos, and see why peak season is a trust window, not a sales window.
Region | Peak | Low | What the source says |
|---|---|---|---|
United States | June to August (July highest) | December to February (January lowest) | Source: CoStar data put average US hotel occupancy at 68% in July 2025, about 65% in April 2025 and about 53% in January 2025. CoStar reported January 2026 occupancy of 52.4%. |
Europe, Mediterranean resort (e.g. Croatia, Greece) | July and August (third quarter) | November to March | Source: In 2025, 55% of Croatia's tourism nights fell in July and August and 42% of Greece's, August nights were 41.1 times January's in Croatia and 20.5 times in Greece. January, February, March, November and December together made up less than 5% of Croatia's annual nights. |
Europe, city and less seasonal markets (EU average, Germany) | July and August | January | Source: Across the EU, July and August held 31% of 2025 tourism nights, and August had 3.6 times the nights of January. Germany was among the least seasonal countries at 24%, and hotels were less seasonal than other accommodation, with 36% of hotel nights in the third quarter. |
Middle East (Dubai) | September to May (cooler months) | June to August | Source: A peer-reviewed study of Dubai hotels defines the low season as June to August and the high season as September to May, driven by extreme summer heat. It notes that international hotels face stronger seasonality than local ones. |
India | October to March | April to September (summer and monsoon) | Source: Indian hoteliers describe October to March as the high season and summer as India's traditional lean season for hotels. |
Southeast Asia (Thailand, beach destinations) | November to April | May to October | Source: A Thai Hotels Association and Bank of Thailand survey put average Thai hotel occupancy at 52% in June 2026 and 59% in July 2026, with the South lowest at 49%. Phangnga operators said 50 to 60% is typical in the low season. |

Holiday weeks spike sharply: occupancy peaked at 90.5% on 2 May 2024. |
Australia | December to March (summer and first quarter) | April to August (autumn and winter) | Source: Accommodation Australia said 2026 trading moved from the summer peak into the quieter autumn and winter period in the second quarter. Sydney averaged 80.3% occupancy over the first half of 2026. |
Caribbean | January to April (March highest) | May to June, and September (hurricane season) | Source: STR data put Caribbean occupancy at 80.5% in March 2026 (ADR US$457.13), the year's high, falling to 67% in May and 68.6% in June. In 2022 the region's lowest month was September at 48.9%, which STR called typical for hurricane season. |
How to use the calendar
Put the budget window (August to October) in your sales plan first, and send the business case before the numbers are set. Our guide to a business case a hotel owner will approve shows what to send.
Choose events by who attends, not by size, and book meetings before the show.
Plan go-lives for each region's low season, and agree dates with deals that will miss the pre-summer window.
Review the month in your pipeline meeting, using a pipeline review that reflects hotel seasonality.
Treat December as renewal month: run QBRs with existing customers instead of cold outbound.
Seasonality and timing are one layer of the wider hotel tech go-to-market system.
